Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Your privacy isn't an afterthought — it's a core design principle of Alfred.
We built Alfred so that your most personal thoughts, goals, and reflections stay yours. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other information that could identify you as a person. You never need to create an account. There is no profile of you on our servers. When you open Alfred, you are — and remain — anonymous to us.
Everything you write lives on your device, encrypted, and is only ever used to power your coaching experience.
What Information Does Alfred Use?
Information You Choose to Enter
To personalise your coaching experience, you can optionally share:
- ·Your first name (used only to personalise responses within the app)
- ·Your personality type, personal vision, values, and reasons for using Alfred
- ·Goals, milestones, and progress entries you create
- ·Daily journal entries, morning preparation responses, and evening reflection responses
- ·AI coaching conversation history
All of this information is entirely voluntary. You decide what to share, and you can change or delete it at any time.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, and Alfred does not ask for:
- ·Your email address, phone number, or any contact information
- ·Your location
- ·Access to your camera, microphone, or photos
- ·Your health data
- ·Any information that could identify you as a real-world individual
How Your Data Is Stored and Protected
We take security seriously. Here's how your data is protected:
Encrypted on your device
All sensitive data is encrypted using AES-GCM encryption — one of the strongest encryption standards available — before it is stored on your iPhone.
Keys locked in your Keychain
The encryption keys are stored in the iOS Keychain, which is tied to your device and never synced to iCloud or any external server.
No plaintext storage
Your data is never stored in a readable, unprotected format.
You control your data
You can export a full copy of your data as a file at any time, and import it to restore your experience on a new device.
How We Use Your Data for AI Coaching
Alfred's coaching responses are generated by AI. To do this, a summary of your profile (such as your personality, vision, and values) along with your recent reflections and conversation history is securely transmitted to our backend to generate a personalised response.
This data is used only to generate your coaching responses — nothing else. It is not used for advertising, sold to third parties, or used to build a profile about you.
Our backend is powered by Supabase, a trusted infrastructure provider. You can read Supabase's privacy policy at supabase.com/privacy.
Authentication: No Account Required
Alfred never asks you to sign up or log in with a name, email, or password. Instead, you are assigned a randomly generated anonymous ID automatically when you first open the app. This ID has no connection to your real-world identity — it simply allows the app to function securely in the background.
Subscriptions
Alfred offers optional in-app subscriptions to unlock premium features. Subscriptions are managed entirely through Apple's App Store using Apple's StoreKit framework.
Apple handles all payment processing. Alfred never sees your payment details.
A separate anonymous App User ID (not linked to any personal information) is shared with our backend solely to verify that your subscription is active.

Third-Party Services
Alfred uses a minimal set of third-party services:

We do not use any analytics platforms, advertising networks, or crash reporting tools. We do not track your behaviour across apps or websites.
Your Rights and Choices
You are in full control of your data:
- View and edit your profile and data at any time within the app
- Export a complete copy of all your data from the app settings
- Restore your data on a new device by importing your exported file
Data Retention
Your data lives on your device for as long as you keep the app installed. If you delete all your data through the app settings, it is permanently removed from your device. Anonymised session data used to generate AI responses is not retained on our servers beyond what is necessary to fulfil your request.
Changes to This Policy
If we make meaningful changes to this privacy policy, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it periodically. Continued use of Alfred after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
